4955 - Senior Manager, IT - San Jose, CA

The Senior Manager, IT will be responsible for driving application development for Customer Applications at SunPower. This position will report to the Delivery Applications Director.

This position will interface closely with the functional business managers across our Global Business Units, including but not limited to Directors of Global Business Processes within the business Units. The IT Senior Manager will work closely with Global Processes Owners to understand the business requirements and then drive development and deployment of relevant supporting IT systems to achieve business goals.

The Senior Manger, IT will be responsible for SunPower’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) processes and systems, including parts of Forecast to Delivery and Order to Cash core processes. This individual will have primary IT project leadership for these process areas, working closely with the key business stakeholders to drive all aspects of business transformation and IT support. To succeed in this role, you will possess detail-oriented execution skills, overall business savvy, strong communication abilities and a focus on service excellence.

In addition, the Senior Manager, IT will be responsible for planning, budgeting, people management, career development, quality management, compliance and other typical team leadership responsibilities for their team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the effective functioning of all customer facings applications including SFDC CRM, SFDC PRM, Partner Portal and custom built partner facing tools
• Manage a team of IT Project Managers, Analysts and contract/outsourced resources to deliver IT solutions. Hire quality resources, motivate and build a high performing team
• Managing Vendor relationships and negotiations related to contracts, SOW for work being executed by third party providers
• Partner with senior IT management and peers to define application roadmap to ensure a scalable and effective IT application infrastructure.
• Conduct technology / solution evaluation and recommend appropriate solution for business needs
• Focus on continuous improvement and identify opportunities to provide IT related services more efficiently and effectively
• Monitor performance of outsourced providers to ensure adequate and continuously improving service levels
• Consult with Business Unit management to determine business goals and identify effective information systems and business process solutions to achieve these.

This job description covers two available positions within the rooftop systems product management team. The individual titles and areas of responsibility are:
• Residential Rooftop Mounting Systems Product Manager: residential rooftop mounting systems for the residential PV market.
• Commercial Rooftop Mounting Systems Product Manager: commercial rooftop mounting systems for the commercial and utility PV markets.
In both cases, the individuals filling these positions will have product management responsibility for their respective product areas. You will work closely with Sales, R&D and other product managers to deliver industry leading products and solutions for customers. You will represent the voice of the customer for market needs both current and future, in order to define new products and to tactically manage existing products. You will be knowledgeable of industry trends in commercial and/or residential photovoltaics (PV) systems. You will own your product line from conception through development, deployment and end of life.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with R&D to develop and maintain SunPower’s residential or commercial rooftop product strategies by engaging with customers on their system requirements, examining competitive offerings, tracking industry trends, and establishing a successful product roadmap.
• Manage our existing rooftop product lines with an eye toward reducing product cost and driving further market adoption.
• Work with engineering teams in developing make / buy recommendations and the associated vendor analyses.

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Required
• BS/MS in technical field (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or equivalent) from a leading engineering program.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a technical capacity with PV system vendors. This experience may come from a traditional product management role or from technical support or sales engineering roles.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Preferred
• Experience in energy fields such as PV, wind or conventional fossil fuel technologies.
• Knowledge of PV rooftop mounting systems, residential or commercial roofing materials (e.g. tile, membrane, steel, concrete), and associated technologies.
• MBA.

The role involves providing administrative support for the R&D department in Richmond, CA.

The role supports a variety of functions within the R&D department including the organization of technical information; maintaining a library of codes and standards; support of the creation and release of new parts into the engineering change system; facilitating the movement of engineering changes through the EC process for the R&D department; and other administrative duties as required.

4898 - Hammer Systems Mechanical Design Engineer - Richmond, CA

The ideal person will have experience in product design, machine design, and testing. The majority of the work will be split between doing product design work (CAD, SolidWorks) and building and testing prototypes. The ideal candidate will be very comfortable with a) designing parts and products using SolidWorks, b) building and testing prototypes using standard machine tools and various rapid prototyping techniques, and c) working with suppliers to transition parts from release into production. Familiarity with low-cost structure design and mechanisms highly desirable. Familiarity with welding, machining, sheetmetal design, and industrial design practices also considered positively. The candidate must have a basic understanding of DC electrical systems.

Summary
The solar cell technology development team is responsible for conceiving, developing and transferring new advantaged solar cell technology into manufacture. This group is located in San Jose, California, and consists of several highly skilled scientists and engineers. This team developed the original 20% all-back contact solar cell in 2005, released the 22% technology in 2007 and is presently working on the next generation technology.

We are looking for a motivated materials scientist to join our solar cell development team on the next generation development. This person will assist the group to understand the fundamental materials requirements for existing processes, before researching and developing new improved processes from concept to production implementation. This activity involves collaborating with the other team members to understand the project goals; designing truth experiments or paper studies where appropriate, coordinating or executing the designed experiments; characterization the results; organizing and understanding the data; clear presentation and representation of the data highlighting gaps as well as conclusions; and finally determining the next step in development. The role involves electro-mechanical testing in the design and development of the world’s leading PV mounting systems. Typically, this includes fixed and tracking systems targeted at residential, commercial, and utility applications. The products are targeted for distribution through both internal direct sales channels and 3rd party distributor and installers.
