3742 - Senior Staff Electro-mechanical Test Engineer, Systems Product Development - Richmond, CA
The role involves electro-mechanical testing in the design and development of the world’s leading PV mounting systems. Typically, this includes fixed and tracking systems targeted at residential, commercial, and utility applications. The products are targeted for distribution through both internal direct sales channels and 3rd party distributor and installers.
The ideal person will have a deep understanding of engineering principles, concepts, and industry practices and wide-ranging experience in the planning, execution, and reporting of tests in the lab and in the field. Particular expertise with a variety of sensors, data acquisition systems, and data analysis is required. Knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and fabrication techniques is required. Prior experience with photovoltaic systems and the standard testing methods associated with reliability assessments and certifications will be valuable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Take a leadership role in the execution of complex engineering projects, providing guidance to more junior engineers
• Lead teams for product development testing, failure analysis, corrective/preventive action, and process or infrastructure improvements
• Work independently and with other engineers to establish testing requirements, and project targets.
• Develop plans, schedules and budgets for independent and small group projects
• Manage the planning and execution of high-level qualification test programs.
• Work with external consultants and internal resources to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Support the qualification of products from design to manufacturing.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• 7-12 years experience in electro-mechanical engineering testing
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
• In-depth knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• In-depth knowledge of testing systems for data collection, control of test apparatus, and data processing
• Hands-on prototyping capability
• Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to complex problems
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• CAD skills, SolidWorks preferred
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Machine shop or construction experience preferred
• Self motivated, with ability to work both independently and with multiple teams

4629 - Legal Assistant - San Jose, CA
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to fill a key administrative and operational position directly assisting our Intellectual Property Counsel Group and providing support as necessary to other legal counsel, including the General Counsel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide project coordination with external partners including law firms, executives, and other internal SunPower clients
• Coordinate meeting preparation and alignment with SunPower staff
• Prepare presentations, reports, and documents for operation reviews and Board of Director meetings
• Act as first line of contact for many external inquiries and customers
• Assist with day to day administrative duties including filing, correspondence, expense reporting, scheduling, travel arrangements, copying, proposal and presentation preparation, meeting arrangements, coordination with external partners, technical reporting and budget coordination
• Assist in database maintenance for patent related matters
• Coordinate and work with Administrative and Executive Assistants in a teamwork fashion, providing and receiving support to each other as needed
Education and Experience
• Bachelors degree and at least 2 years of related work experience.
Qualifications
• Excellent overall communication, time management, and analytical skills are required
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other related databases
• Previous experience with supporting a legal group (law firm or corporate) a plus
• Previous experience with patent matters a plus
• Excellent qualitative and analytical skills; an ability to handle many duties with time sensitive deadlines; a strong sense of initiative and discretion; and an ability to create technical presentations and develop and maintain databases of contacts and initiatives
