4779 - Product Engineer - Richmond, CA

SunPower is seeking for an experienced, self motivated person for a new position in System Product Engineering. As part of the P.E team, he/ she will be responsible for engineering issues related to commercial rooftop or tracker products once the product has been released. This position will work closely with Systems Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Reliability, Projects, Supply Chain and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Engineering (mechanical and electrical) support of full range of SunPower System products including rooftop systems and ground mounted tracking systems.
• Investigate internal and external customer complaints, receive customer returns, investigate failures, and provide failure analysis reports.
• Analyze design and construction related field issues and solve module/system issues. Provide engineering and training services to the projects department.
• Work closely with Product Development, to ensure learning from failures and from other field issues are communicated for the next generation of products.
• Work with vendors to reduce costs and improve reliability.
• Update drawings, procedures, specifications and manuals.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems.
• Organize external resources (consultants, laboratory service, etc) to support engineering activities.

Educational Requirements & Qualifications

• Master/ Bachelors degree (M.S/ B.S) in electrical, mechanical or photovoltaic engineering, energy technologies, power control or related field.
• Strong aptitude in mechanical and electrical failure analysis is required.
• Ability and proven experience to think creatively learn and develop innovative solutions to electro-mechanical challenges involved with photovoltaic installations. Familiarity with mechanical engineering and civil engineering principles required.
• Proven problem solving skills and trouble shooting
• Good CAD skills, SolidWorks & Auto CAD preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self motivated, with ability to work both independently and with multiple teams
• 4+ years of engineering experience. Experience in PV industry is desirable
• Strong customer focused attitude

SunPower’s Senior Director of Corporate Communications will be a leader at the company, working closely with our marketing groups, business units, public policy and investor relations teams, reporting to VP of Public Policy and Corporate Communication.

Responsibilities will include leading the team responsible for strategic and tactical planning, execution and reporting for all corporate communications activities:
- Corporate, product, service and system announcements;
- Events, speaking engagements, including decks;
- Claims management;
- Crisis communications;
- Media relations, spokesperson training and selection;
- Communication services for the business units and product management;
- News dissemination;
- Regular reporting as well as event-specific reporting.
The communications team is modest in scale, but tightly linked internally between functional groups and business units as well as tightly connected to external allies including trade associations, NGOs and government agencies. Our Sr. Director of Corporate Communications must have the ability to identify and integrate key messages used by others, influence message and platform selection of our allies as well as identify events requiring fire drill response times.
This role will require a hands-on manager who is willing to write an occasional release, pitch key reporters as well as manage our global PR firm and the team members who have ably managed many of these tasks for several years. Critical competencies include:

Performs all functions associated with inbound and outbound, international and domestic material distribution operations to fulfill Projects/Order requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support Sunpower’s internal customers, primarily the Logistics Group, in their Sales Order (ISOs) and Material Requisition (IRs) fulfillment needs.
• Perform shipping and receiving transactions (Oracle) and issue shipping and receiving documents (Packing Lists, IR/ISOs, Material Requisitions and Material Returns) associated with all storage sites in EU.
• Perform Weekly Cycle count in NA warehouses and Audit variances to determine root causes of inventory issues
• Participate in Monthly inventory reconciliations and investigate inventory discrepancies to determine root causes of inventory issues
• Maintain a log of freight costs (Report format), while auditing invoices and freight bills.
• Monitor vendor performance: warehousing and transportation, supporting a vendor report card system, while identifying and resolving issues.
• Keep record and control legal import Documents in shared drive (proof of deliveries, customs documents, VAT Payment)
• Manage operational aspects and relationships with our third party Logistics providers (daily check of ASN process, traceability of serial number for Solar panels…)
• Audit inventory transactions in the receiving, shipping, and returns to ensure the management of inventory at all levels of the supply chain
• Perform data analysis and provide reports
• Perform and verify monthly freight accrual
• Other tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Logistics Manager

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's/College Degree , Business Studies/Administration/Management,Logistic/Transportation, Engineering or equivalent
• At least 2 years of work experience in Logistics/Inventory Management
• Experience in both international and domestics transportation.

Qualifications
• Knowledge in Warehousing and Inventory Management
• Knowledge and experience in the use of Oracle ERP systems
• Expertise in the use of MS Excel is a must
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills; Must be able to communicate effectively with executive management, vendors, sales, internal and external customers

4756 - Senior Manager, Server & Storage Services - San Jose, CA

Responsible for strategic and tactical management of SunPower’s server and storage infrastructure services and for driving projects and initiatives to improve and enhance existing capabilities. Responsible for the definition of global architecture and standards, as well as for leading the operation of Windows and Linux server infrastructure, Storage infrastructure, Backup and Recovery, Database Administration, and Application Administration services. Provide oversight for design and ensure that infrastructure and services are implemented according to best practices and aligned with the strategic architectural direction. Provide leadership by example, leveraging strong organizational, technical, process, and people management skills. Work with Director of Global IT Operations, with vendors, and with peers to develop and coordinate strategy, architecture, roadmap, budget, and execution of Server and Storage Services.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains overall responsibility for the server infrastructure at SunPower, including the procurement, deployment, configuration, support, and standardization of Windows and Linux server environments.
• Responsible for full life-cycle management of the Storage environment, including storage architecture, procurement, implementation, support, as well as growth and performance management.
• Manages the support and operation of production, test, and development databases on the Oracle and SQLserver platforms.
• Provides operational support and management of application infrastructure, including IIS and Apache web servers, various application servers (Documentum, J2EE, etc.) in support of IT and business-owned applications and services.
• Insures success of projects and initiatives driven by Server Services through the disciplined use of project management methodologies and techniques.
• Develops and manages Key Performance Indicators for Server, Storage, Database, and Application Administration and services, and communicates regularly with senior management to report on operational performance.
• Provides leadership and guidance in managing, monitoring and enhancing the server, storage, database, and App Server lifecycle at SunPower including deployment, patching, upgrades, security, availability, configuration and capacity management.
• Ensures that all team members follow the ITIL Service Management processes such as Incident, Problem, and Change management.
• Develops and manages vendor relationships for hardware and software procurement, product roadmaps and to gain visibility into emerging technologies.
• Partners with stakeholders and decision makers from the business units and IT to make leadership decisions on operational, strategic and tactical initiatives
• Responsible for establishing development plans for the team and ensuring team members are adequately trained.
• Monitors workload of staff to ensure team members are consistently managed and challenged
Skills / Experience:
• College degree in the field of computer science or Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Technology including 5+ years in leadership, supervisory or management position is required.
• 6 to 10 years experience in a large enterprise IT environment with Windows, Linux, VMware, Active Directory, Exchange, tape-based and disk-based backups, NAS and SAN storage.
• 3 to 5 years experience with management and support of Oracle and SQLserver database infrastructure in an enterprise setting.
• 3 to 5 years experience in management of web and application server environments, including Apache, IIS, J2EE, Java, Documentum.
• Excellent problem solving/analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools.
• Strong understanding and experience in ITIL processes.
• Solid understanding and experience in virtualization technologies, Hardware and OS deployment methodologies.
• Strong written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical staff at all the levels of the organization.
• Previous experience with HA and clustering solutions, as well as BCP/DR methodologies.

4641 - Vice President, Functional Excellence - San Jose,CA

We are seeking a VP, Functional Excellence to assume the responsibility of leading our Lean efforts and to build and establish the SunPower Production System, modeled on the Toyota Production System. This is a team player with a proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment. The candidate should be self-motivated and self-directed and have a deep understanding and significant experience leading Lean transformation efforts and initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. This person will be responsible for leading all facets of deploying Lean principles across SunPower, including but not limited to:

• Develop the organizational design and structure required to ensure a highly effective and sustainable Lean methodology is deployed within SunPower creating a platform for the establishment of the SunPower Production System, or, its equivalent.
• Harmonize and align the SunPower SPC system to include the addition of Lean manufacturing disciplines.
• Establish a company-wide Kaizen Promotion Office (KPO) – systematically learning, building, documenting and promoting Best Known Methods across the company.
• Work with external “sensei’s” to lead improvement events both large and small (kaikaku and kaizen).
• Work collaboratively with Operations, Supply Chain and Logistics, Administrative Functional Leaders and Executive Staff to identify areas of waste elimination and productivity improvement.
• Develop, improve and sustain productivity improvements using Lean manufacturing disciplines such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, Single Piece Flow, Pull Production, Takt Time Production, JIT, Level Loading and Jidoka – at the process, site, enterprise and extended value chain levels.
• Work both with SunPower internal organizations as well as Joint Venture partners and key strategic suppliers across the value chain in their Lean deployment efforts.
• Lead the deployment and improvement of problem solving skills (DL & IDL) based on Lean principles (PDCA, A3 thinking, 5W1H, 7W, Golf Scoring, etc.)
• Establish a Functional Excellence staff and budget – drawing from existing resources and funds available through improvement efforts.
• Demonstrate P/L, B/S and Customer impacts of all Functional Excellence improvements. Develop, lead and demonstrate effective Change Management methods.
• Work closely with Operational and Functional Leaders to establish productivity improvement plans, actions and results.
• Lead Operations Strategic Deployment planning (hoshin kanri) as well as work closely with other stakeholders to assist them in developing department-wide Strategy Deployment planning.
• Establish, lead and conduct Kaizen events combined with the Shingijutsu Group of Sensei’s.
• Establish, lead and conduct Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Lean Reviews.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required; Masters Degree a strong plus.
• Demonstrated successful experience leading and transforming organizations using Lean principles.

Qualifications
• Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the organization.
• Ability to communicate effectively in large public speaking venues.
• Ability to work in a team environment with a highly collaborative approach.
