4509 - Mechanical Design Engineer - Richmond, CA

The role involves engineering design and development of the world’s leading PV mounting systems. Typically, this includes fixed and tracking systems targeted at residential and commercial applications. The products are targeted for distribution through both internal direct sales channels and 3rd party distributor and installers.

The ideal person will have experience in optics design, metrology and manufacturing. The majority of the work will be split between testing and oversight of manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be very comfortable with machine design and working with vendors to develop high precision, high quality parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage design, quality and on time delivery of high precision optics for the group. Develop automated measurement tools for large scale photovoltaic receiver system. Assist in DFM for these systems.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• 3-5 years experience in mechanical design, product design or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong mechanical design aptitude.
• Familiarity with SPC and manufacturing quality standards.
• Hands-on prototyping capability, experience with coming machining practices desirable
• 4-year degree in a mechanical design related field Excellent CAD skills, SolidWorks preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Self motivated, with ability to work both independently and with multiple teams.
• Strong communications skills required.
• This position may require significant worldwide travel.
