4202 - Product Engineer - San Jose, CA or Richmond, CA

SunPower is seeking for an experienced, self motivated person for a new position in Module/ System Product Engineering. As part of the P.E team, he/ she will be responsible for engineering issues related to SMS (SunPower Monitoring Systems) application on residential rooftop. This position will work closely with RLCC group and SMS design team. This position requires working in both SunPower sites (Richmond & San Jose).

Responsibilities

•Engineering support of full range of SunPower products with SunPower Monitoring Systems (SMS)
•Provide sustaining engineering support on electronic embedded systems hardware, including driving engineering changes requested by manufacturing, applications engineers, sourcing, and sales team members
•Investigate customer complaints, receive customer returns, investigate failures, and provide failure analysis reports
•Analyze field issues and solve system issues. Provide engineering and training services as needed.
•Update drawings, procedures, specifications and manuals

Educational Requirements & Qualifications

•Bachelors degree (B.S. / B.Eng.) in photovoltaic or electrical engineering.
•Ability and proven experience to think creatively learn and develop innovative solutions to electro-mechanical challenges involved with photovoltaic installations. Familiarity with mechanical engineering and civil engineering principles
•Proven problem solving skills and trouble shooting
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Self motivated, with ability to work both independently and with multiple teams
•5+ years of engineering experience. Experience in PV industry is desirable
•Strong customer focused attitude

Other

•Up to 25% domestic and international travel to customer sites
•Limited relocation assistance will be provided for the right candidate
