This position will be responsible for defining and implementing the customer strategy for large commercial and utility scale electrical equipment worldwide. You will work closely with sales, R&D, product marketing and other product managers to ensure industry leading electrical equipment systems and solutions for customers. These customers range from commercial system owners to independent power producers and investor owned utilities. You will both monitor and influence industry trends in inverters, plant control, and grid integration equipment. You will own the electrical equipment product line from conception through development, deployment, and end of life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conceive and develop new electrical equipment product lines and product line extensions by reducing product cost, implement product enhancements, improving product quality and yield, and rationalize supply/demand planning.
• Conduct market research, customer interviews to determine trends, develop product requirements documents, and create business cases for new products.
• Coordinate with engineering teams on technology roadmap and internal, dealer and customer-facing interfaces using the input collected to write the product requirements document.
• Manage entire product line life cycle from inception and strategic planning through product introduction and growth.
• Drive engineering teams in developing make / buy recommendations and vendor analyses for both hardware and software components
• Develop and implement go-to-market plan with cross-functional team including business units
• Drive product/design issues to positive resolution
• Lead preparation of product-specific sales training and sales support collateral
• Reconcile sales forecasting and operations build planning with market share goals
• Travel domestically and internationally to customer, vendor and internal company sites
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required
• BS/MS in a technical field (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, , physical sciences)
• Minimum 5 years product management experience with power generation, power electronics, or industrial control products
• Minimum 5 years experienced in strategic planning and product roadmaps in multiyear environment
Preferred
• Experience in power generation and/or utility markets
• Experience in renewable energy fields such as Wind, CSP, and PV
• Knowledge of electrical codes and certifications
